An original and official match-worn Manchester City shirt worn by Tony Henry during Tommy Booth’s Testimonial at Maine Road on 20th May 1981.

This is a wonderful and increasingly rare piece of Manchester City history, worn in a special occasion celebrating one of the club’s most loyal and respected servants. The testimonial took place just days after City’s heartbreaking FA Cup Final replay defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, yet thousands of supporters returned to Maine Road to pay tribute to Tommy Booth, whose commitment and service had made him a firm favourite with the City faithful.

The match itself was a unique occasion, featuring Manchester City’s 1981 FA Cup Final team against the club’s 1969 FA Cup-winning side. The 1969 legends wore the iconic black and red away shirts, while the 1981 side ran out emphatic 9–2 winners in an entertaining celebration of two memorable eras in the club’s history.

This shirt was worn by Tony Henry, whose appearance in the testimonial makes this a genuine piece of Manchester City history from an era when testimonial matches were major footballing events, attracting large crowds and bringing together generations of club legends.

With testimonials of this nature now becoming increasingly rare, match-worn testimonial shirts have become highly desirable collector’s items, offering supporters the opportunity to own a unique piece of a club’s heritage that can never be recreated.

The shirt features all the correct player-specification details associated with Manchester City match-worn shirts from this period and represents a rare opportunity to acquire an authentic shirt from one of the club’s most memorable testimonial occasions.
