Description
A stunning A4 photograph personally signed by Manchester City legend Neil Young, capturing the celebration following his famous winning goal in the 1969 FA Cup Final.
Affectionately known as “Nelly” to the City faithful, Neil Young was one of the outstanding players of Manchester City’s golden era. Blessed with a magnificent left foot, tremendous natural ability and an eye for goal, he was a remarkably consistent performer who played a crucial role in the success enjoyed under Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison.
This photograph celebrates one of Young’s greatest moments. At Wembley in the 1969 FA Cup Final against Leicester City, it was Neil who scored the only goal of the game, his wonderful left-footed finish securing a 1–0 victory and bringing the FA Cup back to Maine Road.
City’s great side of that period is often remembered through the legendary names of Colin Bell, Francis Lee and Mike Summerbee, but Neil Young’s contribution should never be underestimated. His goals and performances were absolutely fundamental to the trophies that side collected, and without Nelly’s contribution, that remarkable era simply would not have been the same.
A First Division champion, FA Cup winner, League Cup winner and European Cup Winners’ Cup winner, Young deserves his place alongside the greatest players ever to represent Manchester City.
This stunning A4 photograph was personally signed in person by Neil Young, making it an increasingly special piece of Manchester City memorabilia and a wonderful tribute to one of the club’s true greats.
The photograph comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity and provenance, providing confidence in the history of the signature.
Perfect for framing and displaying in any City room, office or man cave, and a fantastic addition to any serious Manchester City memorabilia or football autograph collection.
When you talk about Manchester City superstars, Neil Young was quite simply a superstar.
