Description

A superb piece of Manchester City memorabilia — an original 1977 copy of Manchester City: My Team, the autobiography of legendary City captain and one-club stalwart Mike Doyle, personally signed by Mike Doyle.

Doyle was one of the defining figures of Manchester City during one of the club’s great eras. Having progressed from youngster to established first-team professional at Maine Road, he became an England international and a hugely respected member of the City side, playing alongside such famous names as Colin Bell, Francis Lee and Mike Summerbee.

In his autobiography, Doyle tells the story of his life at Manchester City from the inside. He recalls the succession of managers and changing fortunes he experienced at Maine Road, the arrival of players including Dennis Tueart, Joe Royle, Brian Kidd and Dave Watson, City’s pursuit of major honours, and, of course, his involvement in the fierce rivalry with Manchester United.

The original book describes Doyle as a player who had been present as “significant chapters of City’s history” were written — making this signed 1977 autobiography an especially evocative item for supporters interested in the club’s Maine Road years.
