Making his first-team debut as a teenager, Pardoe went on to enjoy an outstanding career at Maine Road, becoming one of the finest and most versatile defenders of his generation. Equally accomplished at left-back or in central defence, his intelligence, composure and determination made him a vital member of Manchester City’s golden era during the late 1960s and early 1970s.

During his distinguished playing career, Pardoe helped Manchester City win the First Division Championship, FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup Winners’ Cup, establishing himself as one of the club’s most decorated and respected players. His remarkable courage and resilience, particularly following the serious leg injury that threatened his career, only enhanced the admiration in which he was held by supporters.

Pardoe’s service to Manchester City continued long after his playing days came to an end. Returning as part of the club’s coaching staff, he played a key role in developing the next generation of talent and was a member of the coaching team that guided Manchester City to victory in the 1986 FA Youth Cup, helping to nurture many promising young players.
