Description
An original and official match-worn Manchester City shirt worn by Graham Baker in the 1986 Full Members Cup Final against Chelsea at Wembley.
Quite simply, this is another Holy Grail of Manchester City match-worn shirts.
With only one first-team set produced specifically for the final, this is one of the most elusive Manchester City shirts of the 1980s. Genuine examples are virtually impossible to obtain, with only a handful believed to remain in the possession of former players and collectors. In over three decades of collecting, another example has very rarely surfaced on the open market.
Adding further to its outstanding provenance, this shirt was sourced directly from the player, providing an exceptional and unquestionable chain of ownership.
Graham Baker entered the match as a 58th-minute substitute for Nicky Reid in the inaugural Full Members Cup Final, played at Wembley just 24 hours after Manchester City had drawn the Manchester derby at Old Trafford—a remarkable scheduling quirk that has become part of the shirt’s fascinating history.
The shirt itself is based on City’s 1984–86 away shirt design, but was specially adapted for the final with the club’s Coat of Arms badge heat-pressed onto the chest, making this version unique to the occasion. Although replica shirts were made available through the club’s souvenir shop with the same badge applied, the match-worn player shirts can be identified by their distinctive white inner fleece lining, a feature unique to the player-specification shirts.
The shirt features all the correct player-specification details associated with Manchester City match-worn shirts from this era and is regarded as one of the rarest Wembley shirts ever produced by the club.
Every shirt featured on this website is an original match-worn or match-issued example. These shirts are among the hardest Manchester City memorabilia pieces to obtain and form part of Mark’s world-renowned collection of Manchester City match-worn shirts.
